Solar Power Panels

Solar power systems depend on solar panels, which function to convert sunlight to electricity . Solar panels are an incredible invention that give ordinary homeowners the ability to produce their own energy , cutting their electricity bills and decreasing their impact on the environment .

Solar panels are essentially collections of small solar cells, which are wired together and housed in a weatherproof case . A small electrical current is given off whenever these solar cells are struck by sunlight . A sufficient number of solar cells when combined can produce a tremendous amount of current . Even if one cell malfunctions , the others will continue working and the panel overall remains effective .

The most recent generation of solar cells offer greater efficiency and durability than previous cells . These new models are capable of producing more power from less sunlight than previous cells . All solar cells have a certain threshold at which the amount of sunlight experienced results in electricity output . Modern cells require less sunlight to produce power than older models did .

Modern solar panels generate more power in total than previous units , and this means that it’s possible to generate enough power for in-home use with fewer panels . It’s therefore possible to receive an equal or greater amount of power while dedicating less roof space and less of an initial financial investment to a solar power generation project . All this explains why a growing number of people are taking advantage of what solar power can provide .

Solar panels now frequently have micro-inverters built in . In the past, most solar power systems relied on one large inverter, usually placed near the electrical panel of the home . Direct Current (DC) electricity produced by the solar panels would be transferred to this single inverter, which then converted it to Alternating Current (AC) electricity, the kind which is used in the home .

The difficulty with this configuration was that a loss of power was almost always experienced as the electricity travelled along the long wires from the panels to the inverter . Now that the panels themselves are equipped with their own inverters , the conversion from DC to AC can be done without the same loss of power .

In a sense, the new solar panels with micro-inverters function as their own power plants . The elimination of the large inverter makes the whole process of wiring much simpler , as well . Also , this means that it’s possible to take a more incremental approach to establishing a system for generating solar power , simply adding panels as needed . No matter how you choose to set up a solar power system, it’s worth considering these modern solar power panels . The most important thing to keep in mind is that these panels will generate more energy at a lower cost , allowing users to enjoy the free power of the sun for longer than ever before .
